Wolves are keystone species, meaning they play a HUGE roll in how an environment is shaped and an integral part of an ecosystem.
Between November of 2023 and March of 2024, Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be releasing 10-15 wolves on state or private lands, beginning with areas here in the Eagle River Valley. The wolves will be collared, monitored, and assessed with releases planned over the next 3-5 years.

Wolves have received a bad rap, and certainly not a favorite of those who wear red capes while on their way to see grandma. However, with better understanding, we can appreciate the positive impact wolves bring to our planet and restorative balance to our ecosystems.
