Arroyo Trailhead Wildlife Closure Information

The Arroyo Trailhead parking lot will be closed starting this Friday, January 22, 2021, and remain closed through April 15, 2021. The closure is to help with compliance of winter wildlife closures on the nearby trails and open space.

During the warm months, the Arroyo Trailhead is a great location to park, learn about the Town of Eagle Open Space and Trails, or use the restroom before heading out to the trails in Eagle Ranch or the Hardscrabble area. However, in the winter months, this region is an important winter range for elk and mule deer. These animals need undisturbed access to these low-lying areas to survive the harsh winter. Human activity of any kind can displace and stress wintering elk and deer. With little food available and deep snow to navigate, this stress is often life threatening.

The Town of Eagle is respectfully asking everyone to do their part – respect the trail closures, educate others and give our wildlife in the valley a fighting chance to make it through the harsh winters. To help aid with respect of the seasonal wildlife closures, the Arroyo Trailhead parking area will be closed starting Friday, January 22 to all vehicles. The restrooms will still be opened and maintained for walkers on the Eagle Ranch recreation paths. Thank you in advance for helping to protect wildlife in the Eagle area!

As a reminder, seasonal winter trail closures are currently in effect for trails around the Town of Eagle.
