This fall, the town’s Open Space Department is collaborating with the Eagle Ranch Wildlife Committee, Ground Up and the Eagle County Conservation District to gather soil and vegetation data from specific open space properties. The goal is to assess soil content and health, as well as vegetation cover, to inform recommendations for restoring these areas. This project aligns with the recommendations from the town's 2023 Open Space Management Plans, aiming to enhance vegetation cover for wildlife, control noxious weeds and non-native plants and stabilize steep slopes. Once data collection concludes in 2024, the findings will be used to guide future soil and vegetation improvements.
