The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has approved new trail developments on public land near Eagle. These projects aim to improve the existing trail network by rerouting unsustainable trails, enhancing single track connectivity, developing better signage and information and decommissioning steep, social and unused trails and roads.
The Hardscrabble Trails Coalition and the Vail Valley Mountain Trails Alliance are leading the projects with support from the Town of Eagle. Work is set to begin this summer.
Specific Trail Projects:
- Rerouting Dirt Surfer to be more sustainable and intersect with Haymaker. The existing trail will be closed to motorized use
- Rerouting the lower section of Road Gulch to connect with Will's Thrill and Belly Up, reducing dead ends for motorized users
- Decommissioning and rerouting road sections of Abrams Ridge and Gulch to single track
- Decommissioning and rerouting the hike-a-bike and lower section of Mike's Night Out
- Developing trail hubs in West Eagle to improve single track connectivity and signage
These projects are derived from high-priority items identified in the Town's 2022 Open Space and Trails Master Plan (OST Plan).
